Engaging Key Stakeholders through Social Media

Today I had the pleasure of giving a presentation to MHSCN, the Minnesota Health Strategy and Communications Network. This also provided me an opportunity to try Slideshare.net, a service that is like YouTube for presentation decks, so that I can share the slides with those who attended (and anyone else.)

This was a great group, highly engaged and interested in the subject matter, which was using social media to engage employees and to communicate with outside stakeholders.  It was a fun opportunity to offer a SMUG Extension Class. I hope lots of the MHSCN members will decide to enroll.

For those who attended, I would appreciate any feedback on the presentation, and would be happy to answer any additional questions you may have.

  1. Hi Lee,
I couldn’t believe that your post talked about Slideshare.net. My PR class is currently going over effective Powerpoints and presentations and we looked at SlideShare.net’s results of the World’s Best Presentation Contest (http://www.slideshare.net/contests/contest-details). I’m sure you do a lot of presentations for work, and after looking at your slideshow in this post, I thought you might like to look over the tips we read about. Here are two great articles about improving your slides:

  2. Hi Lee,
I thought it was so great that you talked about Slideshare.net in your post. In my PR class we just looked at their recent contest of World’s Best Presentation Contest (http://www.slideshare.net/contests/contest-details). We have been studying how to create effective Powerpoints and presentations. After looking at your slideshow you posted from your presentation, I thought you might also enjoy some of the articles we were required to read. They give great advice about how to make any presentation more sticky to your audience.

  3. Thanks for your comments, Kelsey. Sometimes comments with multliple URLs get held for moderation (because that’s what the spammers tend to do.)

I appreciate the links you shared. I’ll let others describe whether my delivery of the presentation was sticky or not (the feedback was pretty positive), but I definitely try to keep the font sizes big (for the most time) and avoid reading the text.

The tips you shared are great. I hope to get moving toward the Steve Jobs minimal-text, maximum pictures model.
